How I can help with your depression

How I work?

Depression is more than feeling a bit down or sad occasionally. Sadness is a normal human emotion that we all feel at times in response to events and circumstances in our life. It is when the sadness doesn’t lift and we feel low most of the time to the extent that our lives are becoming adversely affected by our feelings. You don’t need to have a diagnosis from your Doctor for me to help you if you think you may be depressed.

I will encourage you to visit your GP if you think you are depressed, I cannot diagnose depression or any other condition. Your GP can advise you regarding medication and other treatments that may be available. I will ask about any medication you are taking as it is helpful for me to know how they may affect you and what any side effects may be. I will give you the opportunity to talk about your sadness, to give voice to difficult emotions that you may not be able to share even with those closest to you. There can be many causes or contributing factors to your depression and I will help you to find out what it is that you feel is most difficult for you and work with you to move forward in a more positive and hopeful direction.
